Evaluation

The very first steps of planning our video consisted of us brainstorming what things are typically in a “pop” music video to help us come up with an idea. Within our music video we have made sure to use bright, bold colours. We were also sure to make the video “cheesy” much like other “pop” videos already out there and successfully completed this by involving the bright clothing, doing lots of close ups of the artists doing humorous facial expressions, and by involving a boy band type of theme, but with a twist.
The twist is that we have made the artists appear to be extremely camp with the use of bright, skimpy clothing and the way we asked them how to act.  We’ve also tried to be quite daring with our video by using censors to make the audience think that there is something rude going on, but when the censors are taken off, we see it is all very innocent.
We’ve included some postmodern features to challenge existing music videos; 80’s exercise clothing, looking similar to what they wear in fame, some dance moves which match Madonna’s “vogue” and we have also took the idea of playing the Wii game from a recent advert, this is an inter-textual feature, it is media within media.
We found it easy to follow the conventions of pop (fun, outgoing, simple but entertaining elements) were able to keep a clear image and theme in our heads and maintain through our campaign. The website, CD cover and video are all interrelated with each other as we used the image of our actors for our CD cover and website and similar big bright fonts, with our actors fitting the pop genre image it was easy to portray with photographs our “pop” image throughout.
The CD cover has a relation with the website as we advertised the website address on the CD cover to increase hits on the artists website. Having cross advertising like this increases awareness for our artists and their new song. And their image can be recognised easily as each product looks similar.

The comments on our music video are very promising, we’ve been given an excellent for many parts of our video including, overall creativity, holding a shot steady, editing making the meaning apparent to the viewer, varied shot transitions and matching the sound with the images.  Where we haven’t got excellent we’ve been given good; framing a shot, using a variety of shot distance, the appropriateness of the shooting material and mise-en-scene.  Extra comments we got were that our video is “very funny!” which we are very pleased with as this was the aim of our music video, to entertain the audience, and what better way to entertain them than to make them laugh.
The software we used to create our production was iMovie, on this we cut, cropped and put together our music video. Also using iMovie, we were able to add a blur effect to some of our clips, as we wanted to and we were able to put a ‘censored’ sign over the bits we needed to.We used technology to research and plan our production by getting inspiration from other videos. For example, on YouTube, there is spoof of videos dancing and lip-syncing to Katy Perry’s song this gave us ideas for how to approach directing our music video

Overall we felt the planning of our music video went well,Online media technology has enabled for us to distribute our project to a wide audience through our blog, Using the blog helped us share what went wrong and right with the planning and kept us on track on what we have already done and what the next stage was.

We've completed the inside of the CD!

This is our final version of the inside of our CD cover and we are very happy with the results, we wanted to keep it quite simple and unlike our first attempt we think this goes better with the front and back of the CD.  Like many existing CD's we decided to include the lyrics, but we didn't want them to take over the pictures so we made the colour of the text quite dull and we now think it looks perfect   :)

We've finished the website!!

This is our completed website, we have tried to include a lot of bold, eye catching images as well as some text, we think this as been successful.

Finished CD cover!

This is our completed CD cover, we are very pleased with the results.  We believe it does everything we wanted it to, it is colourful, bold and catches your eye.

First attempt at the inside of CD...

This was our first idea for the inside of our CD, although we liked it, we thought that it didn't go to well with the outside of the CD. As we wanted the colour scheme to stay consistant throughout both front and back of the CD

OH NO!

We've had a slight problem with our website, whenever we try to put anything onto it, the background picture moves down as it is too small and this creates a white bit at the top of the page.  We tried to fix this problem by making the picture bigger, however this just made the background picture blurry, we are currently working on other ideas to fix our problem!

Change of Ideas

We have realised that our idea of having the boys dance to a Kesha song isn't quite right. The boys have performed so well that we have focused our attention on them, as a band and stopped thinking about Kesha. Also, we believe that our actors are more pop than rocky.

Tues 4th January. Definately last filming day!

We had a problem, as we had to film a short part of our film again. We had to do this because our actors lip-syncing wasn't too good.
Our filming is now complete.

We forgot to write in earlier that we had a slight wardrobe malfunction, at our first filming session, we had our actors wearing a head band, but our next filming session, we lost one of our head bands therefore had to make do without both of them.
This is our editing and we have also added effects.
